Explore the Wild West's 11 Highest Summits by Ski

The lower eleven Western U.S. states – Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming – cover an enormously diverse landscape of untapped opportunities.  Drew Peterson, Colorado native and now Utah resident, decided to embrace that landscape through his passion of skiing in “Ski the Wild West,” a film by Drew Peterson, Adam Clark, and Thomas Woodson.  Skiing the Wild West is a state by state recanting of the adventures and challenges that come with having big ambitions.

The decision to explore the Lower 48’s eleven highest summits by ski-mountaineering came from Drew’s passion for the West.  Drawn to the region’s vast expanses and wild places; Drew decided to hit the open road and explore his homeland.  Skiing was less a pursuit, and more of an excuse.  Skiing took Drew further into each state than he had ever traveled before.  Places far off the beaten path as well as to places that were well within reach.

Each state, each mountain, and each day presented its own challenges.  He settled into life on the open road and often found himself reveling in the moment of each day’s adventure.  Follow along in this short film that shares insights into the trials, tribulations, and triumphs that go into have a big, hairy, audacious, goal – and achieving it, though maybe not in the way you originally intended.
