Follow along as we road trip through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho

We’re hitting the trails again this summer on another giant road trip across four states of the Northern/Central Rockies of the Western US.  Along the way we’ll wander through the sagebrush seas of the Park to Park highway in central Wyoming, the rugged and scenic Absaroka and Beartooth ranges of southern Montana, and the ancient volcanic landscapes of southern Idaho.

Our 2017 Road Trip Itinerary

The 2017 Basin & Range Magazine road trip will be ‘basecamped’ in three main areas over the course of three weeks.  In each of these three towns, we will settle into the local scene – getting to know the people, places and things that make each place unique.

  • From Bozeman, Montana, we will have the opportunity to explore the Gallatin, Madison and Bridger Ranges which make up the northernmost and westernmost extents of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
  • In Boise, Idaho we’ll be hunting down hot springs, touring Sun Valley and checking out the Salmon Challis National Forest.
  • From Jackson, Wyoming we’ll explore the Wheelhaus tiny homes, the mountains of the Grand Tetons National Park and more.

Supporting the West’s Public Land and National Monuments

And just in time for the Secretary of the Interior’s review of the National Monuments, we will be touring several of the area’s National Monuments and National Parks – showing our support for our emblematic public lands – highlighting them as places that protect the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

For those that follow us closely at Basin & Range – you know the support we show for protecting the West’s vast public landscapes.  We have even thrown our support towards the Outdoor Alliances’ effort to advocate for their protection.  The west depends on public lands, not just for their intrinsic scenic beauty, but also as an economic underpinning.  Communities all across the west depend on access to public lands for hundreds of reasons – many of which relate to fast growing outdoor recreation economy.
